breathe in for luck asked:
i’m a 17 yr old girl and i don’t fall asleep on most days until 4-5am and i wake up at about 11am. I do try to go to sleep earlier but i can’t sleep. I have tried many times to go to sleep at 1am but i find myself lying in bed restless for a few hours. The only time i can get to sleep at about 12am is when i wake up at 7am for college. On weekends and holidays like now i can’t seem to sleep…. could there be a reason for this?

A lot of people are like this, including me. I have always been a night owl, and I’ve made several attempts at falling asleep and getting on a normal sleep pattern. I eventually fall back into my old ways. Some psychologists and sleep researchers consider it a sleeping disorder, but others recognize that is just some people’s natural body rhythm…some people are just more productive and/or alert at night, possibly because that’s when it’s quiet.
I don’t know if you work out, but the only thing I’ve found that kind of helps with sleeping other than routinely being forced to get up early in the morning is taking sleeping aids. Besides that, working out takes up a lot of your energy and seems to make some people tired at a normal hour or an earlier hour than they normally are.
