I have been in the same situation and will read your answers with interest. Some people are lucky in that they may have family to ‘babysit’ for them but those like me are not so fortunate. I would live to get back to work but I cannot find a job that pays enough and works around the school hours

you just have to work it out or get someone else to look after her eg if she has gran and grandad.

Depends a bit on the age of the child. Some mums stay at home. Others get a job,say 10 to 2 ,where they can drop the child off at school and pick them up at 3 o’clock.Obviously part time jobs will not pay so much. Some mums might get a job at a school, like a dinner lady,so again the hours fit in. Also if at a school the holidays are the same as the child’s,but you don’t get paid for those weeks.Lots of parents get the help of grandparents in the holidays. Some have mum taking a week off ,and dad taking a week,so that takes care of 2 weeks of the summer holiday, Another week all together would make it 3 of the 6 catered for. Whether either of you has any more holiday entitlement might help a bit more.Sometimes other mums will look after you daughter for a few days, especially if her daughter and yours are friends. Different families all come up with different solutions.

I have two young children and work 2 days a week. My partner and i only have 1 day a week together as he babysits them one day then i’m lucky that their grandparents share responsibility over the other 4 days a month so as not to put to much pressure on them. You should look for a job share so hours are more flexible. You could also try local nurseries for your daughter or search for work places with creche facilities. Good luck!

Start your own home-based business. That’s what many mom’s with my company have done. It takes work to build, but is well worth the rewards on the other end.

Do an internet search on home-based businesses to see what’s available to you. My company, Arbonne, is opening in the UK in November, so that might be an option for you. PM me if you’d like info about the company.

    Good luck.
