What can I do to improve my mood?

holiday patterns
ashmo asked:

I’m a freshman in college and **** it here, but since I’m 7 hours away from home, I can’t just leave on the weekends. I came here because I was accepted (bad high school transcript.. found out too late that I have ADD) and it’s not the right place for me. It’s an all-girls college and they seem to **** me even though I try really hard to get involved and be social and friendly. It doesn’t help that the number of girls living on campus is extremely small. There’s never anything to do, I rarely have anyone to talk to besides my boyfriend on the phone, and I just look forward to going home each holiday.

What are some little things I can do to feel less depressed? I tried joining a club. They don’t do anything and this college is clique-ier than my high school was so I’m constantly being outcasted. It doesn’t have to do with my school, I’m transferring next year anyway. What can I do on my own (btw I don’t have a car) to feel like myself again? My sleeping patterns are totally messed up and I’m losing motivation to do homework.

    Hey,

I’m sorry to hear you’re in this situation, I can imagine it’s quite difficult. You could try the simple things such as taking long walks, long hot baths, relaxing music, cleaning. You could also join the gym, girls tend to envy thin girls so give them girls a taste of their own medicine!

    Feel better soon

im a freshman too (boy, though) i chill in my dorm alot but maybe pick up a hobby you see others doing! one that looks fun! i write music. learning an instrument helps! watch movies or listen to music and see if anyone notices yall have similar favorites. and when starting a conversation, talk about little things that might happen to everyone in everyday life! extreme opinions may scare others off. be open minded and even if youre not, try to look like youre having fun! its contagious!

Sleep is important, go to your schools clinic and ask for something like ambien, or trazadone. As for clubs, they aren’t everything. If you have a spiritual side you can join a church youth group. You can also do simple things like call your family, or go for a walk and feed ducks. Could you volunteer at your local zoo on weekends? Animals are a great way to help with loneliness.

    Hi,
Always look on the bright side. Everything has it pro and con. I am should have is something good there. If you continue look at all bad things about in this college, i am sure your life will be miserable.

    For example,
-Because your house stay far away, this will train you to be more independent.
-You have less competition in this school because their transcript is poor too. Less competitive and you have less pressure in your school works
-Find opposite *** as friends. Friendship still can workout from here.
-Since you sure you will be transfer out one year later, just hope for it, One year is pretty short compare to no. of year of high school times.
