I’ve gotten used to this terrible sleeping pattern. I guess I picked it up from staying up late often on weekends and holidays. The problem now though is that I like to stay up really late on school nights. It’s the worst on Sunday nights. Last night I stayed up till 2:30 am and I wake up at 7:40 am. I’m extremely tired during the day and I can’t focus at all. On average I will stay up till 11:30 or sometimes 12:30. I try laying in bed but I can’t fall asleep and I end up laying there for hours. What can I do too change this? and Why is it s unhealthy, what can happen?

Okay I’m a 14 year old girl.

When I was younger I would go to sleep easily, cuz like, in school nights my mum would make me go to bed at 9pm, and on weekends I would go to bed at 11pm at the latest as I got tired pretty easily. Because I slept loads, my metabolism was always high and I always stayed very skinny and grew well compared to my friends who had weight problems because they didn’t sleep enough.

But since last year, when I started year 9 at school, I’ve become more stressed, and have been sleeping less. Like, sometimes I sleep at 9, other times at 10.30, and 12, so I never ever have a regular sleeping pattern anymore. Because of this I’ve put on weight.

So now I’m trying to go to sleep, because I am actually knackered as I had a sleepover last night, but worrying about not sleeping is keeping me awake!! Like, I tried lying down and falling asleep, but I keep feeling “under pressure”. So now I’m awake, but I’m still tired, but I’m awake.

I’m not stressed atm, because it’s my school holiday. I’m just stressed about sleeping

All I want is to be healthy, like I was before, but I can’t do it if I have an irregular sleeping pattern. I don’t want to be like most teenagers who get 3 hours sleep and become fat.
How can I stop worrying about not-sleeping, and how do I get loads of sleep???

Its summer over here in Australia. And I don’t have a good sleeping pattern at the moment. Because of holidays. I usually sleep from 4am till 2am. But today I slept from 5am till 11:30am. So I can get my sleeping pattern back. Which was 11-1am till 7am on school days. And, on weekends. 1am till 10 or 11am. So how many hours is the best for me. And should I go to bed earlier on school nights? Or what I am doing is fine??
