Miss Pinkeyes asked:

A year a go I went to the doctors for a different reason, but she asked me how long I had the goitre on my neck. I had put on a bit of weight during this time, but I thought it was just not exercising or living my usual lifestyle during a very stressful university course. She sent me for some blood tests for the thyroid, and they came back slap bang in the middle of where they should be, and so the doctor dismissed thyroid problems.
However, my thyroid does swell and go down during the day. I have tried eating iodine rich food, recommended for thyroid disorders, and alternating my eating patterns to see what could affect it, but there does not seem to be anything directly linked. The only thing I do notice, when I go on holiday it tends to remain less swollen, so possibly stress could trigger it. Should I be worried about my thyroid? Is it at all normal to have something so undulating?
Many thank yous in advance.
