I've included some links with spider IDs. The see through one sounds like a yellow sac or cream house spider, they have a painful bite. They originate in Europe. If you want to control them without poison, sticky traps catch a lot of spiders, also I've heard a cottonball soaked in pennyroyal oil placed in corners (out of reach of kids and pets) deters them, but I have not tried it.
