Not a good idea AT ALL to try to take your camera apart. What ISO setting have you had your camera set on? Have you had it sett on say 800? Trying to take pictures of Christmas lights or parties whithout using flash? If so, what you may be seeing is 'digital noise' Do you have a sie where you can post one of the pictures so we can see?

If your warranty is expired or you don't mind violating it, AND you are real handy with tiny screws, then by all means, tear into it and clean the sensor. It has an infrared mirror covering it, so THAT is what you want to clean. Get some lens cleaning tissue from a photo store and use 90% alcohol from the drug store. If they don't have that, you can use 70%.

You really want some kind of stick, like from a lollipop or a Q-Tip but without the puff of cotton on it. Put a little dab of alcohol on a bunched up bit of lens tissue and wipe the glass clean. You might as well clean what lens elements you can access while you're in there. Start at the center of the lens and work in circles towards the outer edge.

If all this is too scary, just send it in for service.
