If change is the only constant, why are people generally scared of change?

holiday patterns
the_wun_hu_nose asked:

We go back to the area we grew up, see the old house or the old school, feel comfort, reminisce about those days. We have daily, weekly, yealry rituals. Holidays. The names of each day of the week. We have tried to make life seem like a well oiled pattern of routines and images for centuries, why do we as peope run away from the real reality of ot all: life is one long string of seqeuntial events that never truly exactly repeat. Change is the only thing that will always be there, no matter what, if we look, change is there.
Yes, the names of the days of the week make it easier to plan ahead, but why do we generally get stressed out when we change the way we spend our week? A change in job, a new place to live, but after a while we get used to it, comfortable. Why can’t we find comfort in change and the unknown?
