Help us pick our china pattern?

holiday patterns
Emmy Jo ~ 22 weeks with a boy! asked:

Hi. Which of these china patterns do you like best? My fiance and I have narrowed it down to four. I want something that is versatile enough to work for any holiday, something that is plain enough that I won’t get tired of it, and something that is interesting enough that I won’t find it too plain. We have one we think we are going to go with, but I would love to get some input.

Bellina (Too flowery? I love the stemware!):

Opal Innocence (Too wedding-y? I dislike the stemware.):

Federal Platinum (Too plain?):

June Lane (Not plain enough? I love dragonflies.):

I like the Bellina or the June Lane…the June lane would work for everythinkg like the Bellina would because of the Dragon Flies even though they are cool!

  4. Caitlin B says:

I like June Lane the best. I like how the dragonfly isn’t on all of them. but its enough to make them stand out.

I like #4 the best and #1 second!

go with federal platinum with the stemware from bellina. it is kind of plain but you can always spice it up with colorfull napikins or napkin holders

  7. Cindy L says:

I like the third one, because I think it will look good with anything. And I like how the lines are clean and dark. It’s simple, but it looks really nice.

  8. Posey says:

The first two are not my taste at all – too fussy and you will get sick of it. The second two are really good – very classy and you will have years from them without getting sick of them. I think I prefer the Federal Platinum as i think food looks great all set out on a plain plate however the dragonfly one is also very lovely. Dont get the first two – you will regret it – too much like an old persons china set. Whichever you choose I would order and extra settgin as one day a piece will get broken and you will be gutted if they stop doing the line.

I like the Federal Platinum one. Even though it’s plain, it’s very nice. I’m not a big fan of china patterns that are so busy.
Hope this helps, and I hope you pick a good one. Which one were you thinking of getting the most?

I like the Federal Platinum. It is plain, but classy, you can’t go wrong with that combo. My wife said it might be helpful to know that I am a man.

    june lane is the best

OK, well I am totally biased here because “June Lane” is my wedding china. It is so spectacular I can’t even tell you! Just as a side note, I loved June Lane, but was less than thrilled at the matching stemware. There is no rule to say you can’t choose stemware from another pattern/designer, which is what I did. When I went to Macy’s to register, they had open tables in the wedding section where you can lay out all your stemware, china, and cutlery to see how it works together. I ended up choosing Vera Wang “Classic” as my stemware and it works beautifully with June Lane.

    congrats

Have you considered stoneware or do you have your heart set on china? Take a peek at Denby – they have beautiful pieces too.

Actually, I love June Lane. It’s very much like Federal Platinum, which I would go with (I love plain and elegant stuff, though), but the dragonfly makes it quirky and more ‘you’ if you love dragonflies. As long as your entire house isn’t decked out in dragonfly everything, having one very simple dragonfly design on your china is a fun, more modern looking way to incorporate your favorite insect into your stuff. Plus, they’ll serve as an easy conversation starter. ;)

I like June Lane best :)
Especially if you like dragonflies. It’s fairly plain, but not TOO plain. Good luck!

  17. Steph says:

    June Lane or Federal Platinum.
They will be suitable for any occassion whether it be formal or casual. They seem very versatile. I love the dragonflies too!

  18. iloveweddings says:

I like the Opal Innocence. If you don’t like the stemware that matches, just get plain stemware.

  19. Steph B says:

The federal plt is my fav. It will work with anything! To change it up for the holidays you could add a simple charger plate or bowl of a bold color to create a whole new look.

or add some simple glass bowls or stem ware to create an eccletic feel

  20. chattergurl1986 says:

I liek the opal one, its plain but elegant, and can be used for absolutely anything. Ditch the stemware and just buy some nice wine glasses, they dont all have to match perfectly. Usually a set doesn’t have matching stemware anyways.

Platinum is also perfect for anything, its plain but elegant.
