Just got a bunch of clothes over the holiday break. Was musing about this combo: dark dress pants (almost black), dark dress shirt (closer to gray), dark tie (gray with some swirly patterns)
Was wondering if this was appropriate attire for office work? I’ve always been under the impression that lighter colored shirts are more professional looking. (My wardrobe primarily consists of lighter colored dress shirts and dark ties)
Plus I don’t want to walk in and have people ***** Matrix jokes all the livelong day

I think you should wear a maroon tie, maybe. Your tie should add some color.
Sure, its appropriate as long as the clothes are clean, ironed, and pressed. Typically, darker clothes are more acceptable in the cooler months and lighter colors in the warmer months.
too much black is too overwhelming.
i think you should change your dress shirt to a lighter colour.
