SQ+2 asked:
Who decorates for different Holidays? Easter is approaching, I just today bought new chair covers for my dining room chairs…
1-Pink
1-Green
1-White
1-Yellow
They are in a Tulip Pattern, and very Easter-y! I have found some outstanding tablecloths for almost every Holiday in the past few years, but only today expanded the decoration to the chairs, too.
I can’t be the only one…can I???
This has only started in the last few years due to the kids, and wanting them to enjoy the Holidays more. Do you do this, too?

I don’t do much decorating but we have cookie decorating parties for just about every holiday you can buy a cookie cutter for!
The kids and their friends love it!
I dont personally do it myself………….You should become a decorator and get paid for it.
I definitely do. Still living with my parents limits me to decorating only my room.
But for different holidays, I like hanging the appropriate colored lights from the drop ceiling.
I also get different color bedspreads and sheets.
That’s a little extreme for me. I do love the holidays, but we usually do simpler decorations…the #1 way to tell it’s Easter time is that my daughters always get a new dress!
You are wasting your money. put it towards their eduction or give it to charity.
Well, I decorate. But not to that extreme. I usually put on a holiday table cloth and some other decorations around the house (except on Christmas then I have the lights we put up etc). But otherwise its all pretty simple stuff.
I do the same thing! We have a candy dish for most of the holidays…and it is a tradition to put it out on the kitchen counter and fill it with m and m’s a couple weeks before the holiday. For christmas, we do christmas-sy crafts and hang them all over the house. For easter, I buy a bunch of plastic eggs, and put a chocolate egg inside and a coupon inside. (A coupon such as “one free hug,” or “no chores for a day.”) I just put them all over the house…we just found one today from last year, my 6 year old found it, and it said, “one night in Mommy’s bed.” So, she gets to sleep in my bed tonight…all my kids enjoy sleeping in my bed…and it is a rare happening. Lucky me, I will be squished in between my snoring husband and a squirmy daughter-what fun!
Around the 4th of July, we buy those curly bows in red, white and blue, I can’t explain it, so this is what I mean:
Never thought of covers for the dining chairs- good idea! So, no, you are not alone! It is good that you want your children to enjoy the holidays more..you sound like a good mom!
~Kate, mommy of six, and one on the way!
i never decorated anything before having a child but now i do (even if its just a little) for her so she will enjoy them more too. =)
I don’t decorate for easter and even at christmas its a push to decorate the tree and put a festive tablecloth down. I don’t really get into the whole decorating thing. I find it annoying to have to buy, set up and then take down and store the stuff for another whole year.
My mum used to do the egg blowing and painting things with us when we were kids. We would hang them from a ‘tree’ (dead branches in a vase, lol!) on the kitchen table. don’t really know what the significance of it was but it was fun.
NO never thought to do it!
Wow! I only decorate for Christmas, and even then I don’t go overboard, just enough to make it feel a little bit festive.
My opinion, and just my opinion, I think kids get the most enjoyment out of the time and energy you spend with them enjoying the holidays more than what the house looks like.
But if you and the kids like it, why not? Maybe you could make some Easter decorations yourselves, cut out rabbit paw prints, make Easter egg baskets, etc. That’s pretty good fun.
I decorate for everything too! LOL! Sometimes I feel like I am the only one in my neighborhood.. but since we’ve moved here, the neighbors have been keeping up. When I first got here, they would all stop and look at the front yard (now that I know them and the kids all play together, they see the inside of the house too) and talk about how they wished they had the time to do theirs. They find time now. Most importantly, it’s for the kids. They are only little once. So what if you are the only one…. keep it up and maybe the others in your neighborhood will follow suit.
Nah, you’re not the only one. Don’t have money for fripperies like chair covers, though!
